From the perspective of a person with autism in Hong Kong, an interviewed was done with the sharing of the experiences of autistic childhood, parents’ perspectives and experiences. Maybe this will bring you another perspective on people with autism.

Parents are happy to be their children’s reinforcements, and they are ready to go anywhere, anytime, especially parents with special educational needs. Many of them have experienced the crazy search in front of a computer, trying to find resources, and running institutions to pounce on the school.

However, when we are too busy with the baby next to us, it is often they miss out the child’s feelings and needs.

What is he most wanted at the moment? What is the need? Having a bad mouth and bad temper does not mean that you cannot communicate.

Reporter: What was Andy as a child?

Dad: strong memory, a disc, a dozen songs, listen to several times, lyrics and choreography can be backwards. Hobby is different from the others. Six or seven years old have studied black holes.

Mom: The teacher often complained that he was talking to himself and would suddenly lap in the classroom, but it wasn’t very disturbing. Primary school read Tianjin school, often ranked first, but took C, frightened me.

Reporter: Andy, how do you describe your primary school life?

A: The first four years of elementary school are relatively lonely and there are not many friends. But in the last two years, I was so happy that I didn’t know why I had friends. Reading is not hard, except for writing. I would like to talk about it. Usually one hundred words are finished and the composition must be written in too many words.

The easiest to deal with is mathematics, but the class is boring. However, classroom content is never my primary source of entertainment. I don’t have to listen at all times. Sometimes I draw or look at the blackboard and see that there are special ones. For example, the teacher’s words are very neat. I will add some imagination, become a story, and enjoy slowly. However, I have always listened to the teacher, but I do not need to focus on listening.

Reporter: When did you take Andy to do the assessment?

Mom: About 5 or 6 years ago, when he was good with the workers, he suddenly made a noise. He also said that the classmates didn’t understand him. We assessed the “hearty feelings” and found that his IQ was 135 higher than that of his peers. However, the evaluators said that IQ consists of two parts. He is stronger than the others and the other part is much weaker than the people. Therefore, he is more prone to embarrassment and teaches us to encourage him to express more.
