What areas can ABA helps children with autism as suggested by empirical researches

Results suggested that long-term, comprehensive ABA intervention leads to (positive) medium to large effects in terms of intellectual functioning, language development, acquisition of daily living skills and social functioning in children with autism.

In term of intellectual Functioning, which involves the skills of logical reasoning, imagination, cognitive skills which involve attention, memory skills. For language developments, skills involved expressive and receptive languages, comprehension and communicate with others effectively by making comments and having conversation.

For daily living skills, which involves self-help like getting changed, showering, some independent works like having meal by themselves, doing homework etc and some community skills for instances, shopping in the communities etc.

For social functioning skills which involves awareness of others, following others’ to play, joining play and sharing. In general, social skills involves how they can interacte with others’ appropriately.

As suggested by research Virués-Ortega (2010), ABA intervention is effective in helping children with autism in all these areas. Thus as a parent, it is essential in choosing the right intervention. The right intervention, A mile to a smile.
