Children with autism’s Mum Will to give her son a Chance

Right after Mother’s Day, many mothers have received gifts from their children. But the most important thing for mothers is not something measurable, children’s happiness and health are far more significant. The story of the mother Anita which grew up in Happy Valley, is an optimistic person which always stay joyful in her whole life. But right after giving birth of her son – “Happy Boy” . Anita cannot stay as optimistic as before.

“Lok Lam” was diagnosed with serious autism and mental retardation when he was two and a half years old, which was the most heartbreaking news for Anita. Fortunately, Aniat took her son “Lok Lam” to have assessment in his early childhood, and chose to let “Lok Lam” enroll to a special school instead of going to the mainstream schools. Anita also let his son to make his own choice. “Lok Lam” joined the golf training course since elementary school. In March of 2019, “Lok Lam” represented the Hong Kong team in the 2019 Special Olympics Summer World Competition, and won the championship of 18-hole golf tournament. Anita has changed her mind when she understood why “Lok Lam” has such tantrums and behaviors in order to explore the strengths of son and encourage his attempts and initiatives.

Taking good care for children with autism is a long-term and challenging task that most caregivers are under heavy pressure.
