Recently, American high schools have successively held “back-to-school activities” in the opening season often accompanied with grand parties, sport competitions and even the election of homecoming king and queen. At an Indiana high school, one student with autism named Jordan was eager to receive this honor so he rushed towards the court when announcing the king. Instead of being angry, the award-winning student ensured that they were celebrating Jordan himself, placing the crown he had just been given on top of the fellow senior’s head. The crowd cheered with approval at the selfless act and it is such as a sweet scene.
Jordan’s mother captured the incredible moment on film and she was so gratedul for everyone around showing her how much love and inclusion there truly is in the student body. Children with autism often lack proper social skills and emotional management that schools, families, and peers should give more care and tolerance to each other, understand their different needs, and also encourage them to better integrate into school and society. a mile to a smile!
