People with autism need more love and care from the outside world to make it easier for them to integrate into society. In fact, a small move can show love and respect for autistic people. In a surpermarket in Lousisana, there happened a heartwarming story between a worker and an autistic teen.

A father and his 17-year-old son with autism, Ryan, were shopping in the supermarket and suddently Ryan stopped to stare at how Taylor refilled the juice with great interests. Seeing Ryan’s eagerness to try, the supermarket worker Taylor invited him to help and they worked together to restock the fridge with orange juice and milk. Since Ryan’s movements were slow, it took half an hour to stock all goods while Taylor did not show any impatience but appreciated Ryan for doing a good job.

It is all known that autism makes going out difficult and may inevitably encounter others’ peculiar look. Ryan’s family was so overwhelmed by young Taylor’s act that he showed more patience and kindness to walk into Ryan’s world. Some children with autism tend to develop repetitive or compulsive behaviors, which may be seen as weird in others’ eyes, thus the public should give more empathy and care to help them integrate into society whereas timely and effective behavioral treatment should be applied to improve appropriate behaviors and social skills, making easier for integration in society. A mile to smile!
