Shibori tie-dye is kind of traditional handmade dyeing technology from Japan by using tools such as rubber band and wooden clip to dye unique textures and patterns. In fact, the leftover in our daily life can also be recycled and reused as natural food waste colors. This March, Dyelicious helps open the door of “natural dyeing” for both parents and children through the picture book story and simple dyeing process.
From the 2-hour food waste colour experience, parents and children can jointly participate into the whole dyeing process from design to finished products, exploring the infinite possibilities of daily tools and leftovers and handmaking creative works. The workshop also prepares a picture book story, which is close to the theme of food waste in Hong Kong, allowing adults and kids to discover the secrets of food dyeing.
The special parent-child tie-dye workshop not only embraces the educational messages of both environment protection and art, but also allows parents and kids to feel the joy of returning to natural life. Beautiful picture book story and tie-dye teaching also provides children with autism more diversified hands-on experience and joy of life, enhancing awareness and understanding of environment. Children are also able to enjoy intimate parent-child interaction and develop social communication skills in the process, a mile to a smile!
