The survey found that children with autism in Hong Kong were diagnosed after an average of two and a half years, lower than foreign requirements with is before the age of 2. Even if parents notice earlier that their children are different, more than half are mistaken for social or language problems and miss the prime time of treatment before the age of three.
Research analyzed 921 cases of children with autism from 2008 to 2014 and found that the average age of diagnosis was between 2 months 7 months ole and 3 years old; in year 2018, among the 75 cases, diagnosis was after the age of three in general which was far below the requirement of a foreign requirements which is to be diagnosed between 18 months and two years old.
