The general public usually thinks that a 6-year-old child can only attend elementary school. But there is an autistic child in the UK who became the youngest Oxford student in history eight years ago. In the age of 14, he is ranked as the top 30 person who made outstanding contributions to the society. In Hong Kong, many people think that people with autism are “geniuses” and can do more in the fields of music and art. However, according to statistics, genius only accounts for the top 10% of high-functioning autistic individuals.

Joshua Beckford from the UK was diagnosed with high-functioning autism since childhood. He has never felt inferior because of autism. At the age of 4 he has decided to become a neurosurgeon or an astronaut, hoping to study the human brain and the anatomy , in order to impact the world. Joshua’s parents are so proud of his accomplishments, however father Daniel points out that raising a child with autism is a big challenge and requires tremendous understanding and tolerance.

Although some children with autism are talented, however most patients are not good at communicating with each other, and are overly obsessed with repetition and have difficulties in social interactions. Fortunately, with early intervention, it will bring greater outcome in the future. Autismilee is committed to provide the latest and accurate autism information, raising public awareness and care for autism. Meanwhile providing the most professional application behavior analysis (ABA) treatment to help autistic people back to the mainstream society, a mile to a smile!
