Game not only brings joy to children, but also allows them to learn through different experiences. The 3rd “Inclusive Family Fun Festival” organized by the Hong Kong PHAB Association will be held in the City One, Sha Tin, offering the opportunity for both parents and children to enjoy a good holiday, understand more about the concept of inclusive society and cultivate positive character.
This year, Inclusive Family Fun Festival has expanded the experience part to allow participants to experience not only the obstacles encountered by the disabled, but also understand the real needs of different people in daily life. A number of experience areas have introduced the special needs of different age groups and people, including the “wheels challenge” for children to operate electric wheelchairs, the “reverse classroom” for inclusive teaching, the “elderly experience class”, the impressive “pregnancy” experience, and the inclusive “simulation bookstore”. In addition, children are able to participate in handicraft workshops to interact with the disabled, or explore the community’s barrier-free facilities with the guidance of a tour guide.
Such parent-child activities are fun and informational that children with autism can have the opportunity to experience the lives of different people in the society and recognize the different needs of people. With this meaningful activity, it helps cultivate children’s empathy and multi-perspective thinking as well as help practice social skills with different people, preparing for the future social integration. a mile to a smile!
